Can your employer deny you short term disability (paid) and list you as ada to avoid paying you?

Can your employer deny you short term disabilitiy (paid) classify you american with disabilities (I am assuming ada is not paid).? This all is of course after Fmla was exhausted. Why was I not put back on std I only used 4 wks?
