Can my employer force me to be screened

I've been working at my job for 10 years. Starting this year my employer has every employee entering there ss# to a 3rd party company to see if we have had any fraudulent background within government subjects! That includes medical fraud, assist fraud student loans default... if so we will be fired for this reason. I would like to know if this is legal and what can I do about this?
