Can my employer deny my light duty if I was injured at work?

I was injured on the job on a Monday. I was released to work light duty the next day by the doctor. My employer denied the doctors request for light duty and asked me not to come in to work on Tuesday but that I would need to fill out paperwork. I was told I wouldn't be able to comeback until thursday or maybe the following week.
