Can I apply for a job at the school where I currently work?

I work at a charter school in Indianapolis, IN which is part of a group of charter schools run by a company from Grand Rapids, MI. They have cancelled their contract with the staffing agency for which I work which is located in Dearborn, MI effective December 6th. The reason we were given for the cancellation was that the agency could not fill the positions as needed and some schools were without therapists. Our school is one. Our Occupational Therapist is due to go on maturity leave and the agency has failed to provide a sub. The charter school organization is going to hire the therapists directly but our agency says that we can not apply because we were required to sign a non-compete when we were hired. They also can not provide us with other employment within our geographic area. The real losers in this situation are our students. They will lose their OT, PT and speech therapists with whom they have worked for a long time and are attached to. These are kids who are disadvantaged in general and have special needs. The non-compete clause says that we can not work for anyone with whom they have a contract but they will no longer have a contract. Is there any possibility that we can apply to work for our school when the contract runs out? The local school personnel do not want to lose us.
