Bonus question. Ohio.

I'm with a firm with a few hundred employees. New management came in recently, and offered everyone an "appreciation" bonus (aka retention bonus). A simple correspondence went out stating all employees will receive X amount based on Full Time, Part Time, or Contingent status. No other qualifications were made in that or any announcement. Checks were distributed last week, and I did not receive one. When I asked HR, they said it was because I received a performance bonus at the end of the fiscal year (fyi, from the old management). I'm quite certain others that received the year bonus got the appreciation bonus, but I did not. Do I have any recourse? Thanks.
