Baby Bonding in South Carolina

If I have not taken the full 12 weeks of FMLA, can I use the remaining weeks for "care for a newborn" all at once at a later date if it's within the first 12 months following birth? For example, I took 6 weeks for recovery after childbirth, but then returned to work. I would like to take the remaining 6 weeks for "baby bonding" in a few months after he is older. Is my employer required to give me the time off or did I lose it by not taking the full 12 weeks at once?
