Are there lawyers that can fight to get the EDD benefits someone is owed.

I was finally granted EDD benefits 6 mos. after I became unemployed do to a simple EDD employee error. This person told me that my last employer was not my last employer. This took so long to clear up that the time I should have been collecting on my "Regular Claim" had expired. So they started me on my "First Extension." But in the EDD handbook it states that you must first exhaust "All of the benefits on your Regular Claim, before you can be granted your First Extension.
So I feel EDD still owes me the benefits I never received on my Regular Claim. approximately $9,000
