Am I supposed to repay the relocation assistance if I left because of my boss's abusive behavior?

I emptied out my office and walked out because my boss was behaving in a violent and abusive (swearing) manner. Later on someone told me that he is suffering from ADHD. The google search revealed he had a few domestic and criminal charges in the past against him.
I did offer to work for other department but HR sent me a letter saying that they accept my resignation even though I never resigned.
Now they sent me a letter from attorney that they want relocation assistance back on pro rated basis. I signed that repayment agreement upon joining but it never specified the charges or ballpark figure. It now turns out that the repayment sheet contains all sorts of over charges for example- $120 for fruit basket which I never requested (did receive though), $13000 for temp living 3 months, $2000 for hiring third party for relocation services, $2200 for moving car from Texas to Florida etc. The amount to repay is $33000.I am unemployed since leaving that job before 3 months, I bought a home and new car in Florida because I was serious about that job. I had no option but to leave because it was quite demeaning and mentally disturbing to work with that boss. Do I have a case against the employer?

I was also paid sign in bonus which is repayable but they never asked to repay the sign in bonus (yet)! Will they come back with more charges? What are my options?
