AM i entitled to receive payment for vacation time earned and not taken when I resign?

Over the past few months my supervisors have been on "witch hunt" for information to get me on. Due to the constant feeling of dread I have not taken my allotted vacation time I have earned. The company is on at the near end of their fiscal year and I am planning my resignation, but I still have at least 5 vacation days I have earned over the course of the year. Can I request payment for these days I have not taken in my resignation letter or by resigning and I forfeiting my right to them?
