Slandering my work ethics after notice

I recently worked for a large company that had a management issue, i consistently received glowing reccomendations. not once did i get any type of written or verbal dicapline and was talked to about a raise and new job title. I also received an amazing job review. I decided to put in my 2 week notice and get a new job. The new employer contacted my boss and she said untrue and absolutely slanderous things about me, the new employer decided to not hire me...when i confronted her bout it she made the statement i don’t want to have to work with you again... do i have a case on retaliation?
