Should I be paid for overtime even though I am salaried?

My job title was application development manager and application development supervisor for the last 16 years. And while I did do some of the exempt type duties they were not my primary duties. I spent easily 70% of my time doing the same development and 24/7/365 support activities as my staff. Over my 19 years total with the company I have worked an average of 55 hours per week (a total of 54,340 documented hours).
Should I have been paid overtime and, would I be able to sue my former employer for this?
