Overtime exemptions and job setting

I am a "salaried" reporter in a single-person bureau. No labor contract. I receive no overtime. I file timecards and have them all. I am on the same vacation schedule as all hourly reporters. I do not supervise any employees and what I do is not inherently different than what any other reporter at the company does except for the location. Am I missing something under professional exemptions or does it appear that I have a claim?

If you are not receiving time and a half pay for hours over 40 it sounds like you have a claim for it. You need to discuss this with an attorney immediately because your statute of limitations could be running. Please call or email us or any of the other excellent employment lawyers in Chicago.
