My husband just strated a new job, and was given a packet of papers to fill out. In this packet was a contract giving his employer the ability to charge him 25 dollars for up to one hour late or early and 75 dollars for a missed day, is this even legal???

In the packet he was given, there is a contract requiring him to pay 25 dollars each time he is up to one hour late, or leaves early- both of which his employer ENCOURAGES to happen, and 75 dollars if he misses a day of work. We need for him to take this job, but we cannot afford it. He has a long commute, which includes high traffic areas, and would almost guarantee at least a few minutes of lateness each week. When he was hired, the company owner had com-plained about not being able to keep employees... I can see why! They can't AFFORD to work for him.
