My hours are being changed to times I made clear I was unavailable to work. Can I be terminated?

I was poached by my employer on the basis that I was unable to commute to work outside of a 9-6 Monday-Friday schedule. My schedule has changed and now I have to work weekends starting at 9 am. Due to the fact that I take public transportation I will be unable to work said shifts. If I am documented late to the shifts I will eventually be terminated. Do I have any recourse?
