My ex-employer is cutting the rate at which it is paying severance

My ex-employer laid me off 11/23/15.

We had agreed 6 months of severance be paid in this contingency.

They have been paying this out 2x per month on the normal payroll dates since then.

Today they advised me that they would be cutting this to 25% of the full rate because they are experiencing cashflow difficulties.

They owe 2 months of payments worth approx $24k.

Cutting this will cause me extreme hardship such as not being able to make house payments.
