Mel, I was recently terminated for theft of money. I paid myself out money that was owed to me from company expenses, I had receipts for most, some things I did not have receipts for. I'm a general manager and we are authorized to perform payouts for expe

I returned fuel on accident instead of hitting the payout button on the register. So I was investigated as to the fuel returns. That's when the payouts came into question. So I was terminated for theft. Money that was owed to me that I purchased for the companies use: Snow shovels, Salt spreader, Car repairs after picking up associates in a snow storm, taking them home all to keep the store open. Office supplies, coat hangers for my fuel associates. By accidently doing a fuel return and taking out $40, They considered this theft and terminated me. Even if I made the mistake and putting in the wrong account, there is money still owed that I paid out my own pocket to use specifically for the company. I don't know if I should contest this termination or not?
