I'm in Hawaii and got terminated from an at-will job from a federal contractor.
The company has performance requirements. My performance has been highly satisfactory and another employee's performance has been poor, but he is being retained. The company's Handbook says they do not condone 'favoritism', but this seems to be the case. Should I seek a lawyer & fight the company's decision? Another thing to do is to report to DOD Inspector General the fact that the company is retaining poor performing employees, but I rather not be a 'whistle blower' if I return to this company.
