I'm being retaliated against for doing the right thing. Is this legal?

I work for a car detail business as the manager. One of my employees is the owners son. He has stolen $800 out of my register in the past 3 months and changes his time to reflect time he didn't work. I recently called his dad (my boss), out on his thieving and I refused to give him holiday pay that he didn't work. Now, his dad is stating that I've been overpaid and is taking money out of my paycheck. I didn't even know until my paycheck was $118 short this week..Is this legal? I know it's retaliation.
