In Portland Oregon, I have been with the same company since Feb of 2016, I am an exempt salary employee, the sole carebprovider and single parent to a 16 month old child, my work schedule is Mon- Fri on a regular basis because my child care provider is closed on Saterday and Sunday. My employer elected to keep our business closed yesterday due to a signicant winter storm that has hit, however, I was available to work that day. Because of the closure I am being threatened a pro ration on my next pay check unless I make the hours up this weekend, even though I cannot work on the weekends because of my child care situation(and he is well aware of this) additionally, he is saying that even though I had plenty of PTO unused from 2016, I now have none since it is January of 2017.
Also, nowhere in the place of employment is is posted about us getting any PTO or anything, it is never discussed, infact, it is stated that only a salary paid employee that has been with the business and salary paid for 1 full year will recieve 1 weeks paid vacation.
Thats the only mention of any kind of PTO at all, and no mention period about paid sick days or anything.
There are also many hourly employees with the company as well.
The only reason I am aware of these things is because I have looked into the law and made myself aware of my rights.
Is all of this legal?
