I am a resident of Tennessee, but work in Mississippi. I am receiving a severance payout equal to 9 months of my pay. Do I still have to pay state taxes to Mississippi since this money isn't earned there?

I am a resident of Tennessee, but work in Mississippi. I am receiving a severance payout equal to 9 months of my pay. Do I still have to pay state taxes to Mississippi since this money isn't earned there? If so, what tax regulation specifies this?
