I’ve been cleared to return to work but my boss is barely scheduling me.

I’ve been cleared to return to work after being on fmla. My boss put me on the schedule for 8 hours this week, and nothing so far on the future schedules. I’m a ft employee with 18 years at this company. Is my supervisor required to put me back on full time right away or can he stagger it? There are two other employees that also do the same position in the same area but neither has seniority over me. My Disability has ended and I have no other income. When is he obligated to put me back full time? I’m in California.
