Can a supervisor ask specificaly how many sick leave hours I have taken for my child?

I have requested a transfer to another area that is closer to family in order to have their assistance with caring for my son. My son has a disease which causes him to have frequent reoccurring high fevers. There is no cure for the disease. I requested the transfer to decrease the amount of sick leave my wife and I take. However my supervisor does not want me to leave so he is trying to pick apart my reasons for a request to transfer. He is worried because other employees have been able to transfer base on similar hardship issues.
