As part of a severance package recently offered to my husband, due to loss of his HVAC job by the contract company, can my husband request a hernia surgery as (an addition to the package) he's been needing for past 5 years? He's been wearing a truss & keeping the hernia to himself for fear that the surgery, plus his 62-year-old age, might result in his being let go back then (even though he's one of their top 20 producers nationwide and always receives excellent evaluations.) The Co. did finally find out about the hernia from his 3rd annual physical after the hernia, but neither the company nor he insisted on the surgery's being done back then.
Now, we're afraid to ask for the Co through Workmen's Comp or his regular insurance do the surgery even though the tear & pain is getting severe at times, as the whole Severance Deal seems to be quite tenuous, the more I read on it. Thanks for any help. L, wife of R
