Are houseparents who foster exempt?
I am a foster care worker and have a set of foster parents who are also houseparents at a residential non-profit family style group home. They want to foster 3 of the children in their care (agency has custody of all 3). The agency is concerned that keeping the 3 children while they are off from their paid duties would require them to be paid. However, they sign a contract as foster parents that explicitly states they will NOT be paid for fostering. Any insight in to how this coincides with FLSA...if at all?
