An anonymous claim was made against me via the company provided mechanism for reporting policy violations. The claim falsely and recklessly said that I give prescription drugs to co workers, which would be a “serious crime” amounting to defamation per se. Since the claim was put in writing, could this be libel? Or is the anonymous employee protected and allowed to offer wildly fabricated claims under the veil of a company reporting mechanism?
