Am I entitled to severance pay?

Hi, I have worked for my employer for 10 years, I live in NJ and I will be locating to SC in 3 weeks. I approcahed my bmanager at the begining of 2010, explained the situation and stressed that I wanted to keep my job, and asked if I could be relocated to the Columbia, SC office. He advised that he would make some calls, he informed me a few weeks later, said there was room in the Columbia office and that his manager was on board, all was a go. We made some internal changes in anticipation which took effect 7-1-10. Approximately 7 weeks ago my manager advised me that I would have a job in SC but when a an anticipated system was released my job would no longer be, then he came to me again a few weeks later and said the new system would be released sooner than anticipated and there would no longer be a job for me in Columbia.
I asked HR manager if there was a severance plan, she said no, not when you resign.
Should I seek legal representation?
Thank you.
