1099 - employer doesn't want to pay commissions

I had entered into a contract a a 1099 employee dated 2013 - 2014. I still worked with this company after the contract ended and received my commission when I asked for it I recently requested to pick up a commission check as I had not done so since Feb of 2016. The company's response was a letter from an attorney claiming my contract had ended in 2014 and to cease and desist all work. Yet I havve been working since 2013 and received commission checks into 2016. Am I legally due the commissions owed to me between March 2016 and October 2016?
