contact the CA Labor Commissioner. they can get your check and they can get you a penalty of one days pay for every day the pay is late. their services are free. you do not need a lawyer.

contact the labor commissioner. they can go after the employer and represent you free of charge to get you the money owed you. I don't think you need a lawyer as their services are no charge.
