Do I have any recourse when I was encouraged to not take an ERO, but then was let go.
I was offered an ERO 3 years ago, but was encouraged to not take it since I was a valuable asset to the company. I was given a significant promotion and raise in order to keep me from going to competitors.
Now, 3 years later, the company has gone through a restructuring and targeted middle management jobs. Most of these positions, including mine, were very close to retirement eligible, which would mean full benefits paid upon retirement (healthcare and life insurance.) I also received a separation package, significantly less than the ERO presented three years ago (and no healthcare). Do I have any recourse since I was encouraged to not leave previously and was a "protected" resource.
