Boss saying it was a mutual separation — but nothing signed

Hi, I was recently fired (in person) - being told that I could leave that day or stay through the end of the month. I wrote an email to confirm termination and now my boss is saying that it was a mutual split. I have a copy of this email if you'd like to see. I did not sign a separation agreement or anything. What do I need to have in order to receive unemployment benefits, to prove that it was not my choice? Thanks so much.
