PRACTICE:
Anthony J. Sperber represents California individuals and companies through all stages of the legal process, from negotiation to litigation.
Mr. Sperber specializes in employment law, a field that encompasses nearly every issue that might arise between employers and employees, such as employment contracts, wage grievances, discrimination complaints and whistleblower claims.
Mr. Sperber�s practice also focuses on invasion of privacy, defamation and other employment-related torts.
Mr. Sperber has successfully represented clients in numerous state and federal forums, including the Superior Courts of California, the California Labor Commissioner, the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, the California Department of Fair Employment & Housing and the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Mr. Sperber is also a mediator for the EEOC, the Berkeley Dispute Resolution Service and private parties.
PRIOR EXPERIENCE:
Prior to opening his own practice in 2000, Mr. Sperber was an associate at Littler Mendelson, the largest labor and employment law firm in the United States. While at Littler Mendelson, Mr. Sperber advised employers on myriad employment-related issues, including anti-discrimination laws, employment contracts, arbitration agreements, employee handbooks, unfair competition, employee privacy and premises liability. Additionally, Mr. Sperber conducted investigations and litigated on behalf of his clients, which ranged from small businesses to Fortune 100 companies.
Mr. Sperber also clerked for the Oakland City Attorney, San Francisco�s Employment Law Center and Simpson, Aherne & Garrity, a private San Francisco litigation firm.
MEMBERSHIPS:
Mr. Sperber is admitted to practice before the California Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. He is a member in good standing of the American Bar Association, the California Bar Association, the Alameda County Bar Association and the San Francisco County Bar Association. He is also a member of the litigation and employment sections of several bar associations.
EDUCATION:
Mr. Sperber received his law degree (J.D.) in 1998 from the University of San Francisco School of Law, where he achieved the following distinctions:
